Updating the story from 10/27/98 on David Bowie’s Mini design at the 1998 British International Motor Show, the Mini will be officially installed in the London Design Museum in Febuary. David talks more about this Mini project in his 8.31.98 journal entry.

The aim of The Heroes Project is to influence SOCIAL ATTITUDE. All proceeds from the sale of this recording will contribute to the staging of events to encourage the social integration of disabled people into mainstream society.

12/01/98 NEWS: LABYRINTH OF JARETH BALL The second annual Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball (a Sypher Publications Productions) will take place on Thursday, December 3rd at the historic Abbey in downtown San Diego. Tickets are $25 a piece, or 2 for $42. Doors open at 9 p.m. Costumes and/or masks are mandatory.

The artists of Sypher Publications will also be holding a special gallery exhibit within the Abbey, featuring new works by Adam Gastelum, Virgil Simpelo, Shawn Strider, Sandra Chang and more!

The one hour documentary/film When Saturn Returnz about Goldie (dubbed “Godfather of Brit Jungle” by db ) is part of Channel 4’s (UK) The Ba Ba Zee series, directed by David Lawson from the Black Audio Film Collective.

The documentary, featuring footage of David Bowie and Goldie at the Chiswick House Art Gallery will be aired on Monday, December 14th at 11pm on Channel 4 (UK). David reviews his experience filming this documentary in his September 12th Journal

A unique charity cover version of the DAVID BOWIE classic anthem “HEROES” is released on 1st December 1998.

Performed by “THE HEROES” who are the actual people who will benefit directly from proceeds raised. COMMUNITY LEISURE PROJECTS is dedicated to helping over 1,600 local children and young people with special needs. With various disabilities, ranging from physical to learning difficulties – they are all special people each with a special need. Released on the RAW FISH label (cat no. RSR CDS1). The CD single is available in all HMV Record stores in the North West of England.

The hearts filthy lesson, a fantastic painting by David is being sold at a Christies auction in London as part of the John Reid Collection on Friday the 18th December 1998. John Reid is a great admirer of David’s and the painting hung in his New York living Room. The painting is estimated at 7000 – 10,000 pounds sterling, but with all the interest will certainly achieve it’s top estimate.

And why is John Reid suddenly selling 691 lots of furniture, paintings, objets and sculpture from his collection? He explains: “I am extremely sentimental about people, but less so about things – I like the thrill of the chase, but I am at heart a chameleon”

James Greatest Hits album to include a live recording of the David Bowie song China Girl, originally recorded by ‘James’ for a BBC Tribute to Iggy Pop.
