    The BBC Online is currently featuring an interview with Jack Docherty who talks about past interview he has done.

    Jack Docherty has interviewed more than 1000 guests in front of a live audience for Channel 5’s The Jack Docherty Show. One such interview was David Bowie in 1997.

    In answer to the question, “Out of all the stars you have interviewed, which one is your favourite and why?” Jack replies:

    “David Bowie sticks in the mind – mainly because I was a fan when I was a teenager and that never really leaves you. There is still a part of me that thinks, “wow!” whenever I meet someone like that. It was a great night – all my mates came down from Scotland, the theatre was full and Bowie played live . I thought it was very cool to hang around with Bowie and share a pack of cigarettes with him – I was a smoker then!”

Labyrinth On Dvd

    Columbia has officially announced that they will release Labyrinth on DVD September 21st, 1999.

    The DVD will feature new 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen versions from hi-def masters and Dolby 2.0 surround mixes. The disc will also feature a 60-minute documentary on the making of the film (“Inside The Labyrinth“), theatrical trailers, cast & crew bios, and production notes.

    Star Trek fans, look for a pre-Trek Gates McFadden in the Labyrinth documentary…she was a choreographer back then.

    Synopsis:
    Jim Henson’s Labyrinth starts with a terrible wish – Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) calls upon goblins to take her baby brother away, and her wish comes true! In a marvelous performance, David Bowie is Jareth, The Goblin King, who has whisked the little boy off to his castle to be goblinized. Sarah must rescue him, but before she can even face the mighty Jareth in the Goblin Castle she must make it through the Labyrinth.

    Populated by all sorts of endearing, delightful and mischievous creatures, Labyrinth is a world of mazes, mystery and spellbinding excitement! Enter with Sarah into this world of wonder… enter into the Labyrinth.

    The RUPERT GOLDSWORTHY GALLERY is pleased to announce an important exhibition of new work by the famous London art group BANK entitled “PRESS RELEASE“.

    The exhibition runs from September 9th until October 16th 1999. There will be an opening for the artists on Thursday September 9th, from 6 to 8pm.

    On a recent visit to New York BANK were surprised at the poor state of New York press releases. “It was strange,” said one BANK member, “it was almost as if the people writing these things were stupid! We decided we should try and help!” This was the starting point for the current project. And now, many months later, BANK write the following: “For six months now, BANK have been seeking to create an improvement in the style and content of Press Releases.

    Story Synopsis:
    Major Jack “Strafer” Celliers In this taut psychological drama about clashing cultures and survival set in the midst of World War II, Bowie stars as Jack Celliers, a British army officer who is sentenced to a Japanese P.O.W. camp in Java. There, he engages in a private war of wills with the camp’s commander (RYUICHI SAKAMOTO), and a belligerent sergeant (TAKESHI).

    Despite their situation, Celliers and fellow prisoner John Lawrence (TOM CONTI) come to understand and respect the Japanese code of honor as the film builds towards a shattering emotional climax in the last days of battle. Co-written and directed by NAGISA OSHIMA, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence celebrates the bonds of friendship and the strength of the human spirit.
