On January 27, 1971, (nearly 30 years ago… ok, 29 years ago) David came to the Americas to promote ‘The Man Who Sold the World’ wearing frocks. His appearance provoked an angry response. Then, on Jan 26, 1975, Cracked Actor, a documentary about David appeared on the BBC-2 for the first time.info courtesy A_Girl

Brilliant Careers

The ‘Brilliant Careers’ segment of Salon.Com has a Brilliant Article on the man we like to call db. They obviously did their homework on this one, with lines such as this:

“He’s easily the most influential rock star of the post-Beatles era, given the number of whole pop movements, from British punk to Britpop, goth to hair metal, industrial to electronica, that owe him enormous and obvious debts.”

Mojo Mag

MOJO magazine have a monthly section about the eventsof 30 years ago. This month it is FEB 1970, and theyhave a piece about DAVID‘s meeting with MICK RONSON. We should see lots more coverage here in future months as DAVID‘s career takes off.

“Just 129 punters, some of who had not come to seeDAVID BOWIE but to give a last cheer for JUNIOR’SEYES, whose final gig it was.”

BOWIE had just returned from Edinburgh where he’dbeen playing a cloud in a LINDSAY KEMP TV production. Superstardom seemed a long way off.”

“All DAVID took home with him that night was MICKRONSON.”

“Two days later, RONNO made his debut with BOWIE at ataping for JOHN PEEL‘s “The Sunday Show

“”It was exciting,” RONSON later recalled. “It wassomething so new. All those ideas DAVID had.”
