Survive Dots Charts

Survive‘ made its way to the single’s chart without a hitch, as i nailed the #28 spot in DotMusic’s Top 75 Singles Chart. Here is a bit of the rational behind the new hit:

“…as thefollowup to ‘Thursday’s Child‘ lands on thechart (incidentally meaning that Bowie hasnow had hit singles in four decades from the1960s onwards) all I can do is tell you that [‘Survive’]comes from his most cricically acclaimedalbum for years and to the hardcore Bowiefan is a very good single indeed.”

No. 47 ‘hours…’ ? David Bowie

The SonicNet/Addicted To Noise 3rd Annual Writer’s Poll has ‘hours…‘ listed as album #47 out of 100.

Here is the blurb they wrote to go along with David’s spot in the list:

“Leave it to Bowie to make his final statement of the millennium by eschewing radical innovation and instead looking back. On ‘hours …,’ the singer takes an inventory of his musical past with varying results. As a confessional LP, ‘hours …’ doesnít reveal much. But where would a rock dandy be without the element of mystery, anyway?”

Bowie-carnaval

It’s getting to be that time of the year again… Carnaval is just around the bend for Brazil, and the rest of the world for that matter! So, what a better way to party Carnaval-style than a BowieBash! Here is the statement from organizer Andherson Miliatti:

“The Brazilian Fan Club Outside are planning their second annual meeting for March 2000. It will take place in Sao Joao da Boa Vista between the 4th and the 7th of March. Plans include a city tour, parties and a studio session where the fans will get together as a tribute band and play Bowie tunes till dawn.”

For those thinking of going, Sao Joao da Boa Vista is about a 4 hour drive from Sao Paolo and a 10 hour drive from Rio de Janeiro. For more information, e-mail:

All-access Emm

Emm’s new disk ‘Science Fair‘ was given a smashing review in Access Magazine Online. You GO girl!! Here’s a clip of the review:

“…Tracks like ‘Good Riddance‘ and ‘Revenge‘ speak for themselves, but it is the purity of tracks like ‘Serenade‘ and Paul Weller’s ‘You Do Something To Me‘ that truly reflect Gryner’s creative genius. Science Fair might not be one of the year’s most hyped albums but it’s definitely worth checking out.”

This Day In Bowie History

These boots were made for touring… pictured above, The Thin White Duke in Berlin by Andy Kent.

It was 24 years ago today that The Thin White Duke first took to the stage with his backing band ‘Raw Moon‘. The 1976 World Tour opened in Vancouver, Canada on February 2nd of that very year. Variously referred to as The Station To Station Tour, The Thin White Duke Tour, The White Light Tour and even The Isolar Tour, but officially known simply as The 1976 World Tour, these shows promoted the release, a little more than a week earlier, of the classic Station To Station.
