Hallo! Hallo! Hallo! Part Four

Baby doll, Baby doll…

Welcome to the fourth part of our HALLO! magazine picture exclusive that David Bowie himself has described as “Just wonderful”. You can make your own copy of the mini-mag (once you have the final page tomorrow), by printing out the high resolution files that can be found by clicking on the smaller versions that have appeared on these very news pages each day this week. Thanx again to Sindymmm for sharing with us.

Your question could be fully answered in a future instalment of “Ask the SuperVixen!”

Name That Tune – Rules

As you know, on Friday at 3PM EST BowieNet will host the first official BowieNet Name That Tune game! And lo and behold, the rumors are confirmed – we have another pair of tickets to the Tibet Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall to give away to the First Place Winner!

The rules are as follows:

1. The host will write one line of lyrics from a David Bowie song IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

2. The first person to correctly identify the song gets five points. If after a period of time no one has guessed the song, the next line from the song will be given. If everyone is still stumped (an unlikely scenario with this bunch!), a third and final line will be given. If no one guesses it even then it will be considered a stumper and we move on to the next one.

3. The game is over when one player has accumulated 50 points or after one hour, whichever comes first.

4. The First Place winner (the player who reaches 50 points first or who is in the lead after one hour) wins the tickets. There will also be prizes awarded to the second and third place winners. In the event of a tie for first place, the game will continue until someone pulls ahead. If there are ties for 2nd and 3rd place, both players will receive a runners-up prize.

Hope to see you there!

Life With The New York Dolls Part Three

If you want to print out a copy, simply click on the image of pages four and five above to take you to a larger file. Tune in this time tomorrow for our penultimate glimpse into life in the doll’s house.

*I know that description is not 100% true, and it’s perhaps a little rude, but don’t blame me, David Bowie wrote it!

Hedwig Wins Two Awards At Sundance!

she’s an angry gal

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, written & directed by John Cameron Mitchell & produced by Christine Vachon, Katie Roumel & Pamela Koffler, won the dramatic audience award at the 2001 Sundance film festival this week. John Cameron Mitchell also won the award for best director.

The Audience Awards, sponsored by Entertainment Weekly, are given to a documentary and a dramatic film in Competition or American Spectrum, as voted by festival audiences.

The next stop for the film is the Berlin Film Festival.

I wasn’t ready. I really wasn’t ready. HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH may well be the most important debut feature we’ll see here at the festival, or in any theater this year.

The music and lyrics by Stephen Trask are magnificent, like the best early DAVID BOWIE/Velvet Underground album never recorded. The film has a look and feel that manages to incorporate decay and sleaze, ultimately creating something really beautiful.

More from this wonderful review of the film at Ain’t It Cool.

You can also check out a great unofficial fan site here.

Thanks kelmar, steph and spaceface!

Bowie In The Pink

…never rain on the heart of the pretty pink rose…

Today’s Daily Express in the UK has a rather silly two page feature that poses the equally pointless question: “Should real men ever wear pink?” The picture above, of DB at the Astoria in 1999, is one of the photographs used to fuel the YES/NO debate. Surely by using this particular picture the argument against real men ever wearing pink is dead in the water. Just ask Iman.

Having said that, I generally avoid pink for the simple reason that it clashes with the red of my eyes. And, as real man as he is, Rednik once answered the door to me dressed in a serese, wincyette nightie, which while a lovely item of clothing, (and I hate to say this publicly) made him look a little less hot than he would normally. Sorry Paul, violet is your colour.
