12th Bowienet Auction Live, No Really, It Is!

Rex Ray design, Bowie signature…Yes please!

Now don’t be fooled by fools who promise you, The world and all that glitters more fool you…

OK, I’m sorry…surely you expected nothing less from such a worm as myself. I apologise particularly to those who had already sold cars, houses, pets and partners to stump up enough cash before they realised that yesterday’s news was an April Fool’s bit of naughtiness. Check out the MBs for a few tales of hilarious woe!

Anyway, you shouldn’t be too disappointed, as the real 12th BowieNet auction should be live about now, with two equally desirable items (almost). The above is a very rare signed artist’s proof of a brilliant Rex Ray design familiar to pretty well all of you by now, and this week’s second item is a Tibet House Benefit T-shirt from last year’s show. Good luck!

A New Face For Bowienet

Greetings All,
It’s been almost 4 years since BowieNet first launched. And over the years, the face of BowieNet has changed almost as many times as David’s has.

We are proud to announce the launch of yet another look for the BowieNet Splash Page, complete with a new welcome message from David, and a contest to win a limited edition, signed and numbered Ziggy 2002 Lithograph.

We hope you find the new look and feel easier and more intuitive to use.

You can see the new page here.

Sincerely,
The BowieNet Staff

Bowie Sells Stage Outfit In 12th Bowienet Auction!

Nope, they ain’t Easter Bunnies, it’s the “Woodland Creature” costume!

I could do with the money…

As auction number eleven draws to a close, it is completely eclipsed by the latest item that David Bowie has selected from his own vaults. In an incredible move David has decided to “let go” many of his original items of stage clothing, some dating back over thirty years. The first piece is one of his very favourite items, and also one of the few outfits that was worn throughout the ’72 and ’73 tours…The “Woodland Creature” costume!

This costume was first worn at the Rainbow shows in London of August 1972, and, though a duplicate was later produced, this is the original outfit. Beautifully crafted from leather, the design is hand-painted, and a closer inspection reveals a little wear and tear, which is presumably why the duplicate was made in the first place. You can see close-ups on the eBay page, including more live shots of Ziggy modelling the thing, like the picture above from 1973.

Believe me, I did try to dissuade David from parting with this stuff, (there’s a lot more to come) not only because I can’t possibly afford anything like this right now, but also because it seems a shame to split the collection up. Anyway, he seems determined, and seeing as this is his favourite item, I guess he is serious.

There is quite a high reserve on this most beautiful piece of rock history, and I for one hope it isn’t met. If however you think it should be yours, then click on the link below…I hope you’re unsuccessful!
