Bids For Bowie Boots Already At Two Thousand Dollars

I got seven days to place my bid…

With a mere 72 hours of the 10-day auction on eBay for a pair of David Bowie’s boots having elapsed so far, the interest in this charity donation has exceeded all expectations.

We told you about the UK size eight and a half leather-type white Chelsea boots earlier in the week, (11.28.2006 NEWS: LANDMINE CHARITY BOWIE BOOTS AUCTION NOW LIVE) when, within only a couple of hours of the boots going live on eBay, they had already received bids more than three times higher than the next closest bid.

Well now, as I write this piece, the bidding has crossed the thousand pound line and is currently at £1,020 GBP!! (Approx. $2,000 USD) The next closest bid is £275 GBP for a pair of Phil Collins‘ Puma boots, which proves that the Bowie fans bidding on these boots are either very generous, very rich or quite mental…or a combination of all these things.

With one whole week left before the auction ends, I think we may be in for more surprises yet.

Don’t forget that the Give Landmines The Boot campaign is raising money for a very worthy charity: MAG (Mines Advisory Group). Even if the Bowie boots are way out of your financial league, there are still many great bargains to be had.
