Round-up Of Stuff

I was waiting for more things…

Things have been a bit frenetic around here lately, what with all the message board excitement (David has made another ten posts since that initial one I mentioned in yesterday’s news.) and the High Line announcement. (03.25.2007 NEWS: BOWIE CURATED HIGH LINE FESTIVAL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED) So here’s a couple of loose ends that need tying up…

Firstly, congrats to DB for yet another top 40 album in the UK charts. EMI’s The Best Of David Bowie 1980/1987 (above) entered at number 34 this week. Thanks to BowieNetter jackie_c for the pointer.

I’m not sure the above offering from EMI will repeat the success of The Best Of David Bowie 1980/1987, but for those of you that haven’t received the e-mail regarding this compilation of Bowie covers, you can buy this ten-track download-only album by going here, and you can also enter a contest to win the Young Americans Special Edition and The Best Of David Bowie 1980/1987 by going here.

Meanwhile, here’s the tracklisting…

01 The Dandy Warhols – The Jean Genie
02 Culture Club – Starman
(2002 Digital Remaster)
03 Duran Duran – Fame
04 White Buffalo – Ziggy Stardust
05 Midge Ure – The Man Who Sold The World
06 Peter Noone – Oh! You Pretty Things
07 Terrorvision – Moonage Daydream
(Specially Recorded Track)
08 Skids – All The Young Dudes (2003 Digital Remaster)
09 Loose Ends – Golden Years
10 Peter Noone – Right On Mother

Make of that what you will, but I’m afraid it has to be said that whoever was responsible for the artwork for this release should have read a design manual from cover to cover first!

Finally, don’t forget that Extras series two (above) is out now on R2 DVD. (03.09.2007 NEWS: EXTRAS EXTRAS, READ ALL ABOUT ‘EM) The BBC got maximum exposure for this release by repeating the Bowie episode the night before the DVD’s release.

And there have been TV ads for both this, (with The Little Fat Man (With The Pug-Nosed Face) running in the background) and for The Best Of David Bowie 1980/1987

Actually, it’s easy to forget just how funny the Bowie episode is, and that’s even if you ignore the whole Bowie section too. Extras is an extremely funny and clever bit of writing, and no modern family should be without a copy of this DVD, unless they want the neighbours pointing and laughing.
