Sunday Evening Bowie On Uk Radio…goodbye Mint

Remember when we used to go to church on Sundays…

David Bowie is among the artists featured on Capital Gold’s continuing Legendary Labels series, which takes a look at the RCA label this Sunday, April 1st, at 7:00pm

Shortly after the Legendary Labels broadcast, turn the dial to BBC 6Music for the very last broadcast of Marc Riley’s truly great Mint. Here’s a bit from the blurb concerning this final show…

———————————————————————————————————————–

Marc Riley and Rob Hughes talk about record collecting!!! For the last time!! Please join us for tonight’s last Mint … it’ll be a good un .. !

The all new SESSION MAN SPOTLIGHT falls on the career of Herbie Flowers. Who has played with some of the finest artists of our time – David Bowie, Lou Reed and T Rex.

Plus the MINTERNET CHART, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE (with Mr Joel McIver), and Rob Hughe’s hilarious, sometimes musical sometimes not, escapades in Tales From The Front Line.

Well, it looks like being two final hours of the finest radio anywhere on the planet, and I’m sure you’re all aware of just how proudly Riley has flown, and indeed still flies, the Bowie flag. If you’re not, don’t take my word for it…check these out:

And that’s not even taking in to account his other shows, Rocket Science and Brain Surgery.

Anyway, all’s not quite as sad as it seems, as the rather flamboyant and self-proclaimed staunch bi-sexual radio star can still be heard every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:00pm to 9:30pm on aforementioned Brain Surgery on 6Music.

I’ll leave you with Marc’s very own favourite picture (above) of him and David together at the Manchester Academy in 1997. Thanx for the fun over the last few years Marc, Sunday night’s will never be the same again.
