Db Picks Another Youtube Snippet And Talks Mike Garson

Heaven’s In Here…

As we announced last week, (04.26.2007 NEWS: DB PICKS YOUTUBE SNIPPETS OF HIGH LINE ACTS) during the run-up to The High Line Festival we’ll be posting a few YouTube snippets, selected by DB, of some of the acts that will be appearing over the course of the festival. Ken Nordine

Today’s clip is of the extraordinary Ken Nordine who plays the High Line on May 16th & 17th and who has Mike Garson opening for him. Check out Ken performing Cliché Heaven via this YouTube clip hand-picked by DB.

You can check out much more of Ken’s stuff at www.wordjazz.com

Mike Garson demonstrates his famous escaping from a piano routine.

As I say, opening for Ken on both nights is the familiar chap above…Whom DB himself has a few words to say:

“Happy to report that one-of-a-kind Mike ‘fingers’ Garson will be opening for Ken Nordine on both of Ken’s performances at the High Line, (16th & 17th May). Mike will be playing solo and will likely knock out some ridiculously lovely pieces in this very welcome return to our ‘scene’.

We’re sure many of us will want to catch this sublime combo of Mike and Ken, all at once, together at last, ’till death do u……I’ll get me coat.”

Ken Nordine and Mike Garson both play the High Line on May 16th & 17th and tickets are still available here for the 16th and here for the 17th.

Tvotr To Perform Exclusive Set At High Line

Shaking loose these songs from their sacred hiding space…

Speaking of The High Line Festival (see story below) we’ve just had it confirmed that TV On The Radio will now play an exclusive acoustic set on the Air night, Thursday May 10th.

You will remember that David Bowie contributed backing vocals to the song Province on the band’s excellent Return To Cookie Mountain. The song was also released as a limited edition green vinyl 7″ 45. That’s the radio promo above.

If you’ve not heard Province for one reason or another, check it out on TVOTR’s MySpace page.

The band plays High Line on May 10th and tickets are available here. Air and TVOTR on the same bill for less than fifty bucks…that’s what I call a bargain!

Exclusive Time Out Bowie Interview And New Portrait

And he’s hooked to the silver screen…

David has been in touch with news regarding a Time Out New York High Line Festival special, for which he has the front cover…so I’ll shut up. Over to you Mr B…

———————————————————————————————————————–

Some of you may have seen the new Time Out, featuring this years High Line Festival. Well, there’s an interview with me re: my film selections, well, actually there are three interviews, one interviewing me (that’s the film one) and two others where I interview Laurie Anderson and then Ricky Gervais.

Anyway, well, back to the film thing. It got shortened in the mag because of space and such-like so here’s the full thing. Oh, and that’s a picture above taken by Jimmy Fingers. (You’ll remember him from the tour. Something about ‘shirts’)

NB: Due to popular demand, Time Out New York has now posted the full length piece online which you can read here if you missed it previously.

Stay tuned to BowieNet for a full breakdown of David’s Spanish Film Retrospective and an exciting new contest to accompany it.

I’m sure you’re all familiar with wardrobe man Jimmy ‘Fingers’ King who David makes mention of in his intro above…Jimmy first appeared on BowieNet seven years ago after a controversial shirt-shrinking incident immortalised in song on stage in Copenhagen in 1999.
