Remember That Placebo Contest? Here Are The Winners!!

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock…

In an attempt to tie-up some of those loose ends that have been nagging away at the back of my brain for far too long, I thought you might finally enjoy the results of the Placebo contest which we ran over a year ago! (10.26.2006 NEWS: WIN PLACEBO PROMOTIONAL CLOCK RADIOS AND LTD CDS)

For those that don’t remember it, (and why should you?) we asked you to supply the reason you think I used the lyric quotation of: “Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock”.

Well, Without You I?m Nothing, (the song that was re-recorded by Placebo with David Bowie sharing vocals) contains those very lyrics, and considering the clock/radio prize I thought it an appropriate line.

Anyway, here are the ten clever sausages that The Random Generator pulled out of the frying pan today…

Five winners of the Placebo clock radio:

carmel
ruth
sirdidymus
taf1970
thecleaneststar

Five winners of the 10-year anniversary CD/DVD collectors editions of the debut Placebo album:

akd
maxine.hillson
samadhi
tabalicious
tenimmo

If you lot are still actually interested in your prize, send us your name and address and we’ll endeavour to get it to you before another year evaporates.

Db On August Filming Plus Sundance Premiere

As The World Falls Down…

We told you about Austin Chick‘s August back in May of last year, (05.20.2007 NEWS: BOWIE FILMS PART FOR NEW AUSTIN CHICK FILM) when we reported that David had filmed his part as Ogilvie, a hard-nosed British CEO of a dotcom company, during The High Line Festival.

I recently asked him how the filming had gone and it seems it wasn’t the hardest day’s work he’s ever done:

————————————————————————————————————-

My bit was filmed last year not that far from where I live so it felt a little like wandering down the road for a morning paper, dropping into a quiet building and making a quick cameo appearance in a movie and continuing on home to read. Nice. – db”

————————————————————————————————————-

Initial reports suggested we wouldn’t be able to see the fruits of David’s labour until 2009, but hopefully things have moved forward a little with the news that August premieres at Sundance in a couple of weeks. Here are the screening details…

Screenings:
Tue. January 22, 5:30pm, Library Center Theatre, Park City
Wed. January 23, 2:30pm, Library Center Theatre, Park City
Thu. January 24, 9:45pm, Broadway Centre Cinemas V, SLC
Sat. January 26, 11:30am, Library Center Theatre, Park City

Happy New Year…plus Db 61st Birthday Bashes

Feels like something’s gonna happen this year…

A happy new year from everybody here at BowieNet to everybody reading this.

Today’s lyric quotation isn’t based on anything more than my own gut feeling, but I can say with confidence that there will be some big improvements here at BowieNet in 2008 which you’ll start seeing towards the second half of the year.

Sorry if that seems too far away and not very specific, but hopefully you will think the changes will have been worth the wait.

In the meantime, on with the present…

The intriguing image above is the front of the flier for the Japanese party in celebration of David Bowie’s 61st (January 8th) and it takes place in Tokyo on Sunday January 6th. Here’s some info with links kindly sent in by BowieNetter EriWilde
