Tin Machine Ii In The 50 Greatest Lost Albums

You belong in rock ‘n roll, Well so do I…

The headline says it…this is according to UNCUT magazine and I have to say I agree with them. Here’s what they say about Tin Machine II

Personally I feel both Tin Machine albums are way underrated, written off all too readily by people who haven’t bothered to listen to them. There’s easily a whole album’s worth of great Bowie songs one can compile from all the Tin Machine releases.

In fact, below is the tracklisting I’ve done for my Tin Machine best of playlist: Psycho-Time-Bomb Planet.

The only rules I set myself with these playlists are that they must be a maximum of twelve songs and under forty five minutes…just like the good old vinyl album days! 😉

01 – Tin Machine (3:34)
02 – Prisoner Of Love (4:50)
03 – I Can’t Read (4:54)
04 – Amazing (3:04)
05 – Bus Stop (1:41)
06 – Run (3:20)
07 – Baby Universal (3:18)
08 – You Belong In Rock ‘N Roll (4:07)
09 – Amlapura (3:46)
10 – Betty Wrong (3:48)
11 – Shopping For Girls (3:44)
12 – Goodbye Mr. Ed (3:24)

That’s twelve tracks clocking in at 43 minutes and 30 seconds.

I know many of you will violently disagree with that tracklisting, but give it a listen. I think it’s a great compilation that stands up well alongside many of Bowie’s better appreciated albums. Feel free to send in your own versions, if I get a few I’ll post them here.

Anyway, I hope justice will prevail one day and eventually both TM and TM2 will be recognised as the valuable recordings they are.

FOOTNOTE: For the spotters among you, that’s the South Korean and Argentian vinyl pressings at the top of this piece.
