Bowie Jd Set From Glasgow Online And On C4 Tonight

Everything will be alright tonight…

Despite being listed as The JD Set: London, not only in the official Channel 4 listings, but on SKY planner and elsewhere too, tonight’s Channel 4 broadcast will actually be the Bowie JD Set recorded in Glasgow at the O2 ABC2 on Wednesday 20th April, that we first told you about a couple of months back. (03.14.2011 NEWS: JACK DANIELS ALL-STAR BOWIE TRIBUTE IN GLASGOW NEXT MONTH) At least that’s what the lady in the know at Channel 4 told me last week.

The broadcast is only around fifteen minutes long, so I’m guessing they will be showing the songs as highlighted in the animation above. Meanwhile, you can view a set of different Bowie songs from rehearsals, as listed below, on the official JD Set site

Sharleen Spiteri – Rebel Rebel (with Steve Mason) and Life On Mars?
Ian McCulloch – The Prettiest Star
Kid Adrift – Andy Warhol
Ramona – Five Years

The programme actually airs after midnight tonight, so strictly speaking it’s on Friday morning at 00:50 hours. If you miss this first broadcast, don’t forget there’s always Channel 4 + 1 an hour later and 4OD online.

The aforementioned London set is worth a look too if you haven’t already seen it. It’s Tim Wheeler of Ash performing the songs of The Pixies with various other groups backing him. At one point Tim credits The Pixies and David Bowie for the sci-fi influence on Ash songs such as the excellent Girl From Mars.

Take A Look At The Iman No. 1 Art Print By David Bowie

Sees the pictures of herself…

Just a quick one for those of you wondering which print David Bowie’s IMAN No. 1 is, after reading this line in yesterday’s press release…

“Bowie’s art print, IMAN No. 1, will be unveiled at Design on a Dime, and will make its online debut on 20×200 on Thursday, May 12, 2011.”

If you can’t wait until Thursday, we can reveal that IMAN No. 1 is the print illustrated above that used to be available via BowieArt.com, though it was just listed as Iman there.

The lady herself used four of the prints to great effect when she decorated the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge at Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week back in September 2010.

Find out more about www.20×200.com in aforementioned press release. (05.05.2011: LTD EDTN BOWIE PRINTS OF IMAN TO BE AUCTIONED)

The interior designers among you may be wondering what the wallpaper print in the background above is.

Well, I’m not sure but I think you’ll find it in the IMAN home fabric range, where my eye took a bit of a shine to the Punjab Peacock in Radicchio, not to mention the delicious Deauville Dance in Gem.

Platinum Bob Award And Personalised Cd On Ebay

Under the moonlight, the serious moonlight…

The above is best explained via the eBay blurb…

DAVID BOWIE ‘BEST OF BOWIE’ PLATINUM PRESENTATION DISC AND SIGNED CD

CHARITY AUCTION FOR THE BOOBY DAZZLERS 2 MOONWALK 2011

This US platinum award was presented to Julian Stockton of The Outside Organisation (@outsideorg) to commemorate RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certified sales of more than one million copies in the USA of the 2002 album “Best Of Bowie”.

The disc measures 50″ by 48″ and comes with a letter of authenticity from the owner.

The winner of the auction will also receive a copy of the “Best of Bowie” CD personally signed to them by David Bowie.

————————————————————————————————————–

Very generous of Mr Stockton to donate such a great item, but then again, I’m sure you’ll agree with him in that it is for a most deserving cause.

Sadly, this one is already way out of my league seeing as it’s currently at £1,550.00 GBP (approximately $2,555.80 USD) and that’s still with nine days left to go!

If you do feel like going for it, don’t forget that David Bowie himself has said he will be happy to personally sign a Best of Bowie CD with a dedication to the auction winner or recipient of the winner’s choice.

Japanese Space Oddity 45 Sets All-time Auction High

You’ve really made the grade…

An extremely rare Japanese promo of the Philips Space Oddity/Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud 45 has sold at auction in Japan for a staggering 2,113,100 JPY, which translates to approximately 26,119.50 USD or 15,794.22 GBP! (That’s Yen, American dollars and British quids in case you’re wondering.) And it didn’t even have the inner generic Philips bag. How mental is that?

The seven-day auction which ran from April 13th to 20th took place on the Yahoo! Japan auction site, which may have actually narrowed the audience to some degree. Who knows what it might have fetched had it been listed on eBay.com.

Originally released in January 1970, surely this forty-one-year-old 7″ is now a contender for the most expensive commercially released single of all time, albeit a promo.

I think the previous record was the withdrawn Sex PistolsGod Save The Queen on A&M for £12,675 GBP. Please let us know if you contest this theory.

Thanx to BowieNetter AsianBowie for the pointer to the original Yahoo! Japan auction, which you can view here.
