RADIO FREE TOP 100

Time to vote!

As of the most recent (January 1st, 2000) update, Bowie placed #80 in the Radio Free Top 100 Music Poll. The poll is to be updated every 3 months, so lets get a good head start on the next round, and flood those ballot boxes! Here is a message from the Top 100 site:

“We’re always interested in the opinion of our readers, so we’ve set up this ongoing poll where you can vote for your favorite artist. The rules are simple: everyone who participates gets 5 votes. You can split them up however you like: you can cast 1 vote for five artists, or, if you are an obsessive freak, you can cast all 5 votes for one artist.”

Let’s see some obsessive-freak-style votes for DB! 🙂

Just For Fun: Life From Mars?!?!

In a study presented Wednesday at the national meeting of the American Astronomical Society, experts said their calculations show that if life ever existed on Mars then it could have been carried to Earth aboard some 5 trillion rocks blasted from the Red Planet by impacting asteroids.

They concluded that it is theoretically possible that life on Earth came from life on Mars!

Banking on Bowie to
Bring in the Bucks

Ziggy played guitar, or so goes the famous David Bowie song. Now he’s making loans and quoting CD rates. At least in name. David Bowie, an online pioneer, has quietly launched his own bank, BowieBanc.com. Want more of the Thin White Duke? Then get Bowie photo checks. You can get all the standard bank services — just don’t expect Bowie himself to approve your loan.

The bank is actually USABancShares.com, with a Bowie front end. Robert Goodale, whose company Ultrastar runs Bowie’s online service, BowieNet, says a bank is one more way to create online community. It’s part of the “complete private label Internet presence” many celebs seek.

Bowie previously dabbled in banking in 1997, when he sold bonds against his future earnings to raise $55 million.

‘The Most I Can Offer’

In a new year clearout, and a spectacularly failed attempt to ‘simplify my life’, I stumbled across the above itemwhich happens to be a mint condition copy of ‘the fabulous LITTLE RICHARD‘ on Specialty Records. I have afeeling it is a re-issue as opposed to the original, but I’m sure it would suit somebody who needs a copy just forplaying.

As I say I don’t really need it, so the first person with a wonky left eye and an ex backing band called The Spiders toe-mail me with a claim, can collect the prize forthwith.
