1972 was the year. During this time, Iggy & the Stooges – at the height of their musical powers and legendary excesses – recorded the now-seminal album ‘Raw Power‘ and performed their only UK gig at London’s ‘The Scala‘.
It was a crazed period captured on camera by one man: Mick Rock.
“Iggy Pop is, you might say, extreme. He makes the Mick Jaggers and Alice Coopers of this world look kind of timid. Words such as ‘spontaneous’ and ‘unpredictable’, frequently applied to him, are a little short on power. Iggy is a monster.” – Mick Rock, 1972
Now, to be released this Spring, a deluxe edition book of 200 black and white images, including 47 striking color shots, documenting Iggy and his remarkable band at their finest. Most of these images have never been published before. The book also contains an interview of Iggy by Mick himself, and an introduction by Mick as well.
The book will be published May 2nd, 2000 in the UK, and June 2nd, 2000 in the USA.
There will be a full-scale exhibition and launch party to be held at the original venue: The Scala, on May 2nd.
