Really Randoms
RollingStone.com covered the Bowie/Hanson story in the Really Randoms portion of their News section. And here is what they said:
David Bowie may not be touring this year, but that doesn’t mean he’s sitting around knitting booties as he and Iman wait for the stork. The Thin White Web Entrepreneur has just added teen sensations Hanson to his list of web clients, which includes the New York Yankees (YankeesXtreme.com) and Baltimore Orioles (OriolesWorld.com). Bowie’s UltraStar Internet Services has been working on a site to bring a new and improved Hanson to the unsuspecting world in anticipation of their new album, This Time Around, due May 9. At midnight on March 29, Hanson.net will go live, giving fans a peak at the new album which features guest appearances from Beck, John Popper and Jonny Lang.
Generation @
DB’s old Berlin apartment is being put to good use as headquarters for an internet-related research project:
“Generation@, a project to research and examine the impact of the Internet on society has secured Bowie’s old Berlin apartment for a troop of 20-somethings according to this Berlin Kurier news article. The six strong group spend their days in the luxury seven room 200 square meter apartment where Bowie lived while writing and recording during his Berlin/Eno era in 1978-79. One group member says “Bowie’s spirit inspires us; only his music is missing”. More information about the project including how to contact the participants can be found at the Connexion 2000 web site.”

The Return Of Duke 'n' Earl
Well this news is best broken by our man in New York, who, for matters of security, shall remain happily pseudonymed; ‘The Spy-In-The- Flight-Case’! Take it away Spy:
“Earl Slick flew into NY on Thursday night to take part on Friday in an initial rehearsal for the Glastonbury/NY Festival shows. Wearing his key-note black on black and shades, the ‘Hard-Man of Rock’ ensemble, he tore through ‘Stay‘ ‘Station To Station‘ ‘Cracked Actor‘ and a whole bunch of ‘Goldens‘ as though he had never stopped playing these songs. Then to top it off , he smoothly radicalized into ‘I’m Afraid Of Americans‘.
The rest of the band were wreathed in smiles, Gail commenting, “This is like being inside Living History.” Bowie himself commented, “Wow, is this band hot or what? If people weren’t around in 1974, this will give them a damn good idea of what we were about. You’ve heard the bootlegs, now get the real deal” he grinned.
Bowie and the band, with Earl Slick on guitar, will debut on the 16th of June somewhere in New York City.”
I know the great majority of you will understand the importance of this report, but for the benefit of some of you youngsters out there, (Hi A_Girl and Steve K) go here for a little bit of history.

Station To Station
Eric Pfeiffer runs a DB dedicated radio show called, appropriately enough, ‘Station to Station‘, which airs each Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8pm Pacific Standard Time. Click on the image above for the real audio connection to the radio program (remember to tune in during showtime, 7-8pm PST). ‘Station to Station’ has been on-air on KWVA 88.1FM since July 1999. The program is aired from the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon, and it features rare, live, and unreleased material by Bowie, as well as some popular favorites. Eric takes reqeusts, answers questions, and has trivia for the weekly listeners. Over the past eight months the show has become quite popular in the Eugene area, and the new season premiers this Tuesday! It should be a good one! Again, the radio show is now also available to those outside the Eugene area via a real audio link at:
http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~kwva
For on-air requests, the telephone number is (541) 346-0645.
thanks to Eric Pfeiffer (Host, “Station to Station”)

Last Part Of 'golden Years: The David Bowie Story'
SATURDAY 25TH MARCH!
RADIO 2 (FM 88 – 90.2 MHz)
7.00 – 8.00pm GMT
( EST 2.00pm )
PART 3 : GOLDEN YEARS – THE DAVID BOWIE STORY.
Just an extra reminder to tune into the final part of ‘GOLDEN YEARS: THE DAVID BOWIE STORY’ this Saturday. This excellent series has been received well here in the UK, not least by ‘The Listener’ section of The Independent On Sunday magazine, The Sunday Review. No doubt inspired by Spaceface’s in-depth coverage of the show, The Independent last Sunday printed a generous two-page spread with highlights from the first part of The David Bowie Story.
Meanwhile, Spaceface herself created a deliberate mistake in her last piece just to see who actually reads this BowieNews section. Needless to say you were all far too polite to point out that for her picture captioned: ‘Young Americans’ sessions with Luther Vandross 1974, she neither used a picture from the Young Americans sessions or one with Luther Vandross! Everyone knows, including Spaceface, (and especially Bowie Nut Stephen King whose favourite Bowie album was the Goblin King’s masterpiece) that the picture used was in fact taken eleven years later at the recording of Underground for the Labyrinth soundtrack, and while Luther was present along with Chaka Khan and Cissy Houston he isn’t actually in the shot used.
A less deliberate mistake (one would imagine) from last week’s episode, was Carlos Alomar’s claim that ‘Footstompin’ was a Lou Reed song, when even Rednik could tell you that it was actually released by The Flares! The programme is also web-cast here so Turn on, Tune-in, and Drop-in, if you’re this way again. };-)
