Bowie Interviews Self
For Times Magazine

MTV News have picked up on the New York Times Magazine story. And here is what they said:

“David Bowie has penned an article for a special section of this Sunday’s ‘The New York Times Magazine,’ in which the Thin White Duke interviews himself at the age of 24.

Bowie, who also appears on the cover of the ‘Fashion Of The Times’ insert, conducts a dialogue with his younger self (who would be in between recording 1970’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World‘ and 1972’s landmark ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust‘ LPs) and the two discuss everything from ‘A Clockwork Orange‘ to Cher’s TV show.”

Movietime

David Bowie starrer of “Mr. Rice’s Secret” has closed a number of territories for theatrical distribution. Panorama has grabbed the film for a fall release in the United States, while CCVAS in Scandinavia, British Sky Broadcasting in the United Kingdom, ARS Media in the former Yugoslav territories and Yeni Tual in Turkey have also made deals for the film.

Artisan Entertainment has re-released one of David’s “best acting performances.” Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is now available on VHS at Reel.com. But note, this version DOES NOT have the english subtitles for the portions of the film in Japanese, so make sure those translation books are at hand as you view! If you’re looking for a DVD version, you may have to wait awhile! Artisan has said that even if given the go-ahead it would not be available until next year.

Dreamcast Away…

It has been announced that ‘Omikron: The Nomad Soul‘ will be available on Sega Dreamcast as of March 31st, 2000. The people at Eidos expect good things from this release, as the Dreamcast graphics are rumoured to be as smooth or even smoother than your average PC. Here is what they said over at Eidos Interactive.com:

“Graphically brilliant and strikingly stylistic, the game features one of the best real-time 3D engines available and unique facial motion capture in real-time. It also features music by David Bowie and Reeves Gabrels. David also makes an appearance in the game, playing the roles of Boz the Virtual Being, the mysterious leader of a terrorist organisation, as well as the young singer of a band called the Dreamers. The game boasts the first ever virtual concert on Dreamcast with David Bowie, Reeves Gabrels and Gail Ann Dorsey performing within the game.”
