Hollylist

Here is a bit of info from the Webmaster of Holly Palmer’s Fansite Five Little Birds:

The little email list I started with Holly three years ago has grown really big! As a result, the email list and journal that I previously worked with Holly on has moved to her new official site at www.HollyPalmerSinger.com. This means more timely updates of shows and other great things from Holly.

Many of you joined this list and visited my web site way back in 1997 and were instrumental in helping me learn how to make a site worthy of Holly’s talent. Thank you all for taking the time to email me over the years and I hope all the road journals and concert updates did more than clog your inbox!

The new album is scheduled to arrive on July 11th!!!!!! I’ll keep updating my site as new info becomes available. Best wishes.

Jason Lent, Webmaster of Five Little Birds

Kina

Our new java chat had an important visitor the other night, one ‘MISERABLE SOD’ aka ‘SAILOR’!

He told us to watch out for a new recording artist’KINA‘. He said her music is a sort of soul/folk mix,but with a rock edge. A bit ‘Tracey Chapman’ish.

He told us Iman likes ‘KINA’ too, and made sure topoint out that “I was right about Macy, wasn’t I?”

I have had a search around for more information about’KINA’, and come up with not a single thing! UnlessYOU know different?

Let us know at:- info@davidbowie.com

Remember where you heard it first!

Ashcroft In At #3 With Help Of Ground-breaking Video

Richard…I mean David…I mean Richard…Oh, I give up…

Former Verve singer, Richard Ashcroft, has crashed into the UK singles chart at number three with his debut solo single, ‘A Song For The Lovers‘. This success can only have been helped by the fairly heavy rotation of the video that features Dick in a series of domestic situations around his apartment. The video itself is strangely familiar in its presentation, all moody lighting and soft focus, it is shown in the letterbox format that was used for Bowie’s own ‘Thursday’s Child‘ video.

There is one rather clever scene in particular where Dicky is scrutinising his reflection in a large bathroom mirror, as he sings along to his own song on the radio, while preparing himself for a day doing whatever it is that he does? Rumours that this section of the video was culled directly from a screen test that Rich made to body-double as Bowie in the ‘Thursday’s Child‘ video, are unfounded and completely hilarious. Needless to say, Richard retains his trademark stroppy look for the duration of the song…one could almost say that he looks full of woe.

Everything’s falling into place…

David's Saxophone Up For Grabs!

Do you know a struggling young musician who needs a saxophone? Some very lucky person is going to own a saxophone donated by David Bowie!

He is among several stars who have pledged their support for the UK’s first ‘Instrument Amnesty, to be run in conjunction with the BBC’s annual ‘Music Live’ festival. They hope to collect 10,000 unwanted instruments to be distributed to children and young people all over the country.

Db Is Down With That

In a recent interview with Public Enemy’s Chuck D. on www.addict.com, David Bowie is named as one of the music industry pioneers who believes that “keeping it real means keeping it virtual.”

The interview with rapper Chuck D. references Bowie multiple times.

Here are some excerpts:

“Prince and David Bowie are the template”…

Chuck D, along with The Artist and David Bowie, is a firm believer in the Web’s power to circumvent the usual music business channels by helping artists take control of how much and what kind of music they release, when they release it and how much they charge consumers.
