Mix “B” Wins Spot on ‘Bowie at the Beeb’!
The fans have spoken! During last night’s FanMix, votes for “Mix B” of The Man Who Sold the World (the fully orchestrated version) heavily outweighed those for “Mix A,” a more experimental and stripped down version of the 1971 classic. As it turns out, you all picked the same mix that David and Mark preferred themselves!
We’re still trying to figure out where David gets his energy from – he was certainly in high gear during last night’s FanMix, which was hailed as a “groundbreaking event.” In addition to letting the fans vote on two different versions of The Man Who Sold the World, David sang, danced, announced that the Queen of England would be BowieNet’s next chat guest and gave away autographed bathtub accessories (little rubber boats)! Various polls and even a “Name That Tune” segment yielded other prizes including autographed photos and copies of the “Buddha of Suburbia” CD. Together with Mark Plati and BowieNet host “Saint Alphonzo”, David answered questions about everything from album specific questions to possible names for the baby (“Archibald”) to his most recent haircut.
Look for small video crummies of the event later this week followed by a complete posting of the webcast in its entirety by Monday!fanmix_3.jpg” width=288 height=188 alt=”” border=”0″>
