A Dandy Affair

MTV News caught up with Dandy Warhols frontman Courtney Taylor and keyboardist Zia McCabe right after the band had returned from Glastonbury, and the two talked emphatically about their onstage and offstage audience with Bowie.

“It was like this strange dream, like I saw it happen before it happened and after it happened and kind of while it happened. It was David Bowie.”

56th Uk Bowie Hit Triggers Competition

The current David Bowie single, Seven, has entered the UK chart at number 32, making it DB’s 56th UK hit according to the man on the radio. To celebrate this latest achievement, we are giving away sets of the CD single, that’s the three different CDs, plus a copy of the UK promo (pictured above) per win.

All you have to do is tell me; Who put the Blam in the Blam-a-dam-a-ding-dong? Only joking, nobody knows the answer to that. It’s easier than that…All you have to do is mail me at MrTotalBlamBlam@AOL.com with Seven in the subject field, and every seventh e-mail I receive will win a set of the four CDs mentioned above, until supplies are exhausted. What could be nicer for you?

Tony V. Next Chat Vict… Erm… Guest!!

No rest for the wicked or so they say. The night after the FanMix event mentioned above, we’ll be right back at it with studio guru Tony Visconti!! Look for reminders here, in the BowieNet News. The Visconti Chat is scheduled for 8:00pm EST on Tuesday, August 1st!! See ya there!By the way, we apologize for the late chat with Slick the other night – 11PM EST means 5AM or some other ungodly hour for European BowieNetters, which is not exactly convenient. However, Slick had a gig with Holly Palmer before the chat, and that was the earliest he could make it. We’ll do our best to schedule them for 8PM EST or earlier going forward!

Spitting Image

Over 200 puppets from Spitting Image (British Satirical TV programme from the 80’s) were auctioned on-line by Sotheby’s. Included in the musical celebrities section is the David Bowie puppet!

Ziggy's 'bush' Influence

div align=”center”>

This week’s SUNDAY TIMES magazine has an article written by Gavin Rossdale of Bush, about how his aunt introduced him to music. Guess which album he cites as his main influence?

“She introduced me to music. I would listen to lots of her records, a bit of Doors, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed’s Transformer…… But the main one that influenced me was Ziggy Stardust. She gave me the record and didn’t say anything about it : it was in her style to just present it to me and allow me to make my own conclusions.”
