On September 12, the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s new film, “Almost Famous” will be available in stores – three days before the movie appears in theatres. The soundtrack includes a Bowie cover of “I’m Waiting for the Man” by Lou Reed along with tracks by Led Zeppelin, Cat Stevens, Elton John and The Who.
The film, which is a semi-autobiographical account of a journalist on tour with a fictional band called Stillwater, stars Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready. Peter Frampton (the film’s music director), Heart’s Nancy Wilson (Crowe’s wife) and Red House Painters’ Mark Kozelek also make brief appearances.
