The stupendous Massive Attack have joined DB in creating a wonderfully evocative version of the old standard ‘Nature Boy’ for the forthcoming summer cine-release ‘Moulin Rouge’.
David laid down his vocal last week in NY city and sent it off to Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja in London, who then pulled together the rest of the production. Massive and David first met when they found themselves working on the same Festival in Israel in the nineties. ‘Moulin Rouge,’ directed by Romeo and Juliet creator Baz Lurhman, stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor among others and will make its debut at Canne this May.
Already tipped as a summer smash, Moulin Rouge will be the third of Lurhmans ‘thoroughly modern musicals’ to date, starting with the wonderful ‘Strictly Ballroom’. The Bowie/Massive recorded performance of ‘Nature Boy’ will be featured in both the movie and its soundtrack.
David describes it as “Slinky and really mysterious, 3D has put together a riveting piece of work. I’m totally pleased with the end result.” More details as soon as we have them. Meanwhile, here’s a link to the movie itself.
