This week sees the release of the limited edition Mercury Music Prize 2002 Compilation CD. As is usual, the album contains a track from each of the shortlisted albums plus a bonus track from the previous year’s winning album. (In this case ‘Stories From The City’ by PJ Harvey)
The hour long CD which is only available for six weeks before it is deleted, contains David Bowie’s ‘Slow Burn’ from the Mercury nominated ‘Heathen’. The cover (above) features the painting ‘Millions’ by London-based artist Laszlo Lukacs. Here is the 2002 Panasonic Mercury Music Prize CD tracklisting:

The winner of the 2002 Panasonic Mercury Music Prize will be announced at the Mercury Prize show on Tuesday, 17th September. The event will be broadcast live on BBC4 and on Radio 1, and there will also be a BBC2 60-minute Mercury Prize special on Friday, 20th September, hosted by Jools Holland and Jo Whiley.
