Birmingham And Vienna Presale Tickets Still Available

Well, I might stretch it till Wednesday…

There are still a few BowieNet tickets left for David’s show in Vienna on the 29th of October and for the second Birmingham date on November 20th. But they will become unavailable from Wednesday at 10:00am EST (3:00pm UK time).

You may have also noticed that the BowieNet presale of VIP/Travel package offers ended last Friday, as we told you they would in the e-mail regarding these offers. What’s left of these packages is now on general sale.

While they have no relevance to this particular story, I thought those of you outside of London might enjoy the three teaser adverts above, that appeared in the London Evening Standard ahead of the Wembley announcement. You can click on them to take you to the A Reality Tour Tickets Page, and you can check out the BowieNet Tour Calendar here, which, to be honest, has pretty much the same function.

Scottish Bowie Date… Will He, Won't He?

There Is A Happy Land…

BowieNetters north of the border in the UK, will be heartened to learn that David has posted a very short message on the BowieNet MBs, with a heading of: Who loves Ye? …and it goes something like this:

Looks like Scotland’s on folks

Watch that space.

Well, I can confirm that there will be a Bowie show in Scotland, and as soon as we have more, you’ll be the first to know. As ever, BowieNetters should keep an eye on these very pages, the MBs, and the A Reality Tour Tickets Page for any new updates.

Bowienet Vienna Tickets Presale Later Today

It’s happening now…well, a little bit later actually!

We have just this minute received confirmation of a BowieNet allotment of tickets for David’s show in Vienna, Austria, on the 29th of October. These tickets will become available through BowieNet this evening at around 3:00pm EST or 8:00pm UK time.

Public tickets for Zurich in Switzerland on the 24th of October have gone on sale today too. Keep watching that A Reality Tour Tickets Page kidz!

Heroes Remix Out Next Week, Win A Copy Now

We can be us, just for one day…

After a couple of false starts, the David Guetta vs Bowie remix, Just For One Day (Heroes), that we first told you about a couple of months back, is finally released on Monday.

The recording has been circulating as a bootleg for some time now, and after it became a dancefloor favourite, and after DB had given it the thumbs up, Virgin decided to give it a full legitimate release.

The track received ‘single of the month’ in last month’s issue of the painfully hip Dazed & Confused magazine, and NME said this of it:

Bowie’s “Heroes” is looped to infinity over a pulversing house beat – at 5am, stuffed to the gills on some illegal substance, this would sound like the voice of God. We imagine.

Here are a couple more endorsements of the track:

“…a surefire terrace anthem” ? MIXMAG

“…will make you feel like your heart and cock are exploding” ? MUZIK

The collectors among you may already know that there were just 50 copies of the original single-sided 12″ white label bootleg. Virgin then pressed up another 50 copies which were sent out with a press release containing the following blurb:

After 50 of these got into the hands of the likes of Tom Middleton, Erol, Pete Tong, Darren Emerson and Different Gear we knew this one was going to be big! We have cleared the sample now and have had another 50 whites delivered ? so now it’s your turn. Not much to say about this record except it is a dancefloor destroyer.

After the great reactions from aforementioned DJs, and plays on Radio 1 etc., Virgin then released a double-sided 12″ promo that contained a 6:39 minute extended version on the A-side, and a 6:10 minute dub version on the B.

The commercial 12″ released on Monday will contain both of these versions and an original David Guetta track, Distortion. Just For One Day (Heroes) will only be available as a 12″ in the short term, but there are plans for a CD single too, which is due towards the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, we have five copies of the commercial 12″ and five copies of the promotional three minute radio edit CD up for grabs. For your chance to win a copy, simply tell me which format you would prefer by clicking on one of the following links… which should automatically enter you for the contest.

1-track promo CD

Usual rules apply, you must use your BowieNet account or at least supply your BowieNet user name and only one entry per BowieNet account. Entries from non-BowieNet accounts, and duplicate entries (unless supplied with a good excuse and a note from your mum) will be disqualified.

The contest ends Sunday night at midnight UK time, and we’ll announce the randomly picked winners on the first day of July.

Re-recorded Rebel Rebel Out Now

You’re a juvenile success…

The soundtrack CD for the new Charlie’s Angels film, Full Throttle, that we’ve already mentioned several times, (the last time being: 05/28/03 NEWS: RE-RECORDED REBEL REBEL RELEASE DATE) was released on Monday here in the UK, and yesterday in the US.

It seems by some of the correspondence on the MBs that many of you are enjoying this re-recording of David Bowie’s Rebel Rebel, from the soundtrack, just as much as I am. In fact, in a straw poll* I conducted this morning, 100 per cent of those asked thought that not only is the soundtrack worth buying for Rebel Rebel alone, but indeed, 100 per cent of those asked also thought that Rebel Rebel was the best track on the album by a long stretch.

Those of you that have heard this new Tony Visconti-produced Rebel Rebel, have obviously noticed that it uses the same arrangement as the version that David played live last year… albeit truncated to a teasing 3:10 seconds, stopping just when you’re expecting it to crash in to another chorus and fade. But that’s DB for you, it would be foolish to expect the expected from our man.

* Admittedly, it was a poll of just one person, me in fact, but I was unanimous in my verdict!

Uk Reality Shows Selling Fast, Plus Vip Packages Shortly

He’s in the best selling show…

After the incredibly fast sell out of Dublin, (within minutes of the show going on sale) it seems the UK is showing a similar hunger for Bowie tickets, with Manchester, and the first nights of Birmingham and Wembley now sold out.

Some public sale tickets for the extra nights at Birmingham on November 20th and Wembley on November 26th are still available. There are also still some tickets left of the BowieNet allotment for the second night of Birmingham, as there are for fourteen of the other European shows that went on sale yesterday.

Stay tuned for details of the VIP packages that we’ll be posting in a couple of hours, we hope to have an announcement regarding these very limited offers around 7:00pm UK time in fact.

Btwn Limited Edition 3 Disc Set Release Delayed In Us

Putting on the black tie, cranking out the white noise…

I think most of you noticed the press release we posted last week regarding the forthcoming Black Tie White Noise limited edition three disc set. But in case you missed it among the current ticket madness, you can reach the press release by clicking on the image of the new slip cover above.

There is one change to the original schedule though. The US release of the album has been pushed back to January/February 2004, although it should still be available elsewhere on the original August 4th release date. This move, along with the Aladdin Sane 30th anniversary delayed US release, is generally seen as revenge for the American market getting all those films before us Europeans over the years! };-)

For those of you that don’t have the energy to move their mouse all the way up to the image above, I should remind you that, not only does the new package include the brilliant original album, and a sparkling new remastered DVD of the original Black Tie White Noise video compilation/interview/documentary thing, but it also contains a CD of rare and hard-to-find tracks that includes the following:

01. Real Cool World (5.25)
Previously only available on the Warners soundtrack album Songs From The Cool World (9362-45009-2).

02. Lucy Can’t Dance (5.48)
B-side previously available as a bonus track on the CD version of the original album release.

03. Jump They Say (Rock Mix) (4.04)
Previously unreleased commercially. Only previously available on a Savage Records CD promo (SADJ-50044-2) in the US.

04. Black Tie White Noise (3rd Floor US Radio Mix) (3.40)
Previously released commercially on a Savage Records CD single (74785-5045-2) in the US.

09. Black Tie White Noise (Here Come Da Jazz) (5.32)
Only previously available on an Arista UK 12″ promo (BLACK 1).

10.Pallas Athena (Don’t Stop Praying Remix No 2) (7.26)
Only previously available on an Arista UK 12″ promo (MEAT 1).

11.Nite Flights (Moodswings Back To Basics Remix) (9.52)

12.Jump They Say (Dub Oddity) (6.13)
A Leftfield mix previously only available on the Arista European 12″ single of Jump They Say (72431 13942 1).

That’s a pretty impressive listing I think you’ll agree, and an essential purchase for the casual fan and hardened collector alike… Sorry I slipped in to sales rep speak there, but you get what I mean… It’s a bloody good package.

Needless to say, the ever-generous Nigel Reeve over at EMI, will furnish BowieNet with competition copies ahead of the release date… The August 4th date that is!
