Tickets For 15 More Reality Tour Shows On Sale Now

You can buy God, It’s Monday…

We have great pleasure in announcing the second phase of ticket sales for the 2003 leg of David Bowie’s A Reality Tour. BowieNetters have a first stab at these tickets with this exclusive presale before the tickets go on general public sale.

The presale starts Monday June 23rd @ 2:00pm UK time, (Now!) and lasts until Thursday June 26th @ 10AM ET (except for Antwerp, Belguim which ends Tuesday the 24th @ 10AM ET). We’ll try to get you a list of off sale times as soon as we can.

As I write this, the list below is of the 15 shows that are going on sale today to BowieNet members, but these things are fluid (as you may have noticed) and the missing dates may very well have been added to the A Reality Tour Tickets Page by the time I post this:

OCTOBER 2003
16 GERMANY, Hamburg – Colorline Arena
18 GERMANY, Frankfurt – Festhalle
20 FRANCE, Paris – Bercy
26 GERMANY, Stuttgart – Schleyerhalle
27 GERMANY, Munich – Olympiahalle
31 GERMANY, Cologne – Arena

NOVEMBER 2003
01 GERMANY, Hanover – Arena
03 GERMANY, Berlin – Max-Schmelling-Halle
05 BELGIUM, Antwerp – Sportpalais
07 FRANCE, Lille, Le Zenith
08 FRANCE, Amneville – Galaxie
10 FRANCE, Nice – Nikaia
12 FRANCE, Toulouse – Le Zenith
14 FRANCE, Marseille – Le Dome
15 FRANCE, Lyon – Le Halle Tony Garnier

At the moment we have not received presales for the following two shows, but obviously we’ll let you know if this situation changes:

Oct 24 SWITZERLAND, Zurich – Hallenstadion
Oct 29 AUSTRIA, Vienna – Stadthalle

BowieNet never received a presale in the end for the Milan show. This again was something beyond our control, and all I can say regarding this show is keep an eye on the ticket:one website, where tickets are meant to go on sale sometime today. Sorry to be vague on this, but that’s all we have. There is an English language version of the page at the same location.

We’re not always certain of on sale dates for rollover shows, the second Wembley show is an example. It seems we caught some members unaware when we posted our allotment of BowieNet tickets for this second show, but we weren’t guaranteed an allotment for rollovers, so these tickets were a bonus. We posted them as soon as we had them, and we’re obviously sorry if this wasn’t convenient for everybody, but it’s still better than the no tickets we were expecting.

Anyway, I’m sure you all know how the A Reality Tour Tickets Page works by now, but to reiterate, here’s some guidelines for those of you that haven’t used our ticketing system before…

IMPORTANT NOTE: DON’T PANIC – Tickets are assigned randomly, so the time you place your order has no influence over the quality of your seat locations. Therefore, be sure to read all instructions clearly before proceeding so as not to make a mistake with your booking.

Make use of the ‘Use Fanclub’ and ‘Use Shipping’ buttons to make the filling in of your postal details faster. Also, fill the Province field with the county you live in. For example, I first hit ‘Use Fanclub’, I then filled Province with Middlesex, then I hit Use Shipping…It’ll all make sense when you get there.

We have a certain amount of tickets on hold for our members in each venue. The individual concert promoters have made an effort to select quality seats and all tickets available have been hand picked by davidbowie.com. You will not know your exact seat locations until your tickets arrive in the mail.

All sales are in US dollars, and once a ticket sale has been confirmed, and the transaction completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The corresponding show and ticket information will also appear in your newly created member’s MYACCOUNT > TICKETS tab, which has now replaced the POINTS tab.

Tickets will be shipped out 4-6 weeks prior to the date of the show for which said tickets were purchased. There is no Will Call or Box Office pick up.

Be sure to select the correct ticket quantity. If you order 1 ticket, but you meant 2, the system will not allow you to return for a second ticket from the same show.

Funny how secrets travel…

If there’s one thing beloved by BowieNetters and plumbers alike, it’s a damn good leak. The European leg of David Bowie’s A Reality Tour has been published on a couple of other websites, long before we were supposed to give them to you this coming Monday. But now the horse has legged it, and frankly, there’s no point in shutting the stable door until the cows come home… or something like that.

Looks like our man’s going to be a very busy Rock God indeed. You should all be thankful to the guest act on these shows, The Dandy Warhols, for blabbing these tour details and forcing our hand on this one… Now you have time to plan which shows you want to buy, before Monday’s presale!

Speaking of which, the forthcoming BowieNet presale time has changed, I’m sure this will please and anger you in equal amounts, but again, I’m afraid this change is completely beyond our control. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused some of you.

The BowieNet members only pre-sale on Monday June 23rd has now moved from 8:00am UK time, to 2:00pm UK time. But, as I mentioned in my original news item, (06/16/03 NEWS: BOWIE A REALITY TOUR TICKETS ON SALE NOW) there is no need to panic as tickets are assigned randomly, so the time you place your order has no influence over the quality of your seat location. But, please be aware, the presales for some of the shows last just 24 hours, so do make sure you’re around on Monday afternoon.

New Limited Edition Self Portrait At Bowieart

The paintings are all your own…

The great new look Bowieart.com has today put on sale a limited edition new print of a brilliant Bowie self portrait, (already familiar to many of you) that David painted on the island of Mustique in 1988. Here’s what the blurb from the site says:

Bowieart.com is delighted to present a new limited edition print by David Bowie. As the title suggests, Self Portrait (Mustique) is adapted from a stunning self-portrait by the artist produced whilst on the island of Mustique in 1988.

Self Portrait (Mustique) is a beautiful lithograph printed on Fabriano Paper in a limited edition of 175. And with popular prints such as Dhead V and Head of J.O. no longer available for purchase, this new print is sure to be universally welcomed.

Self Portrait (Mustique), 2002, 24 x19 cm by David Bowie.

The print measures 24 x19 cm, and, as with all of these prints of David’s on Bowieart, it is signed by him. Self Portrait (Mustique) 2002 is available for purchase now in the print section of David Bowie’s layer on Bowieart for the price of £200 ($334).

I am certain this print will prove to be one of the most popular on Bowieart, so do be sure not to miss out… like you did with Dhead V and Head of J.O.!

* Because you’ll want to be here on Monday, of course. What will you tell teacher?

Emi Catalogue Are Proud To Release David Bowie's Black Tie White Noise On 4th August 2003 As A Special Edition Three Disc Set

DAVID BOWIE BLACK TIE WHITE NOISE (SPECIAL EDITION)
Cat No: 848 1402

EMI Catalogue are proud to release David Bowie’s Black Tie White Noise on 4th August 2003 as a special edition three disc set.

Disc 1 is the original twelve track album while CD 2 has rare and previously unreleased tracks and mixes. The third disc contains the Black Tie White Noise home video originally released as a VHS and now made available for the first time officially on DVD.

Originally released in 1993 on Arista and Savage Records, Black Tie White Noise reunited Bowie with legendary producer Nile Rodgers for the first time since their collaboration on Let’s Dance. Appearing for the first time since the days of Ziggy Stardust is Spiders guitarist Mick Ronson. Other guests include avant-garde jazz musician Lester Bowie and new jack swing vocalist Al B. Sure!. According to reports at the time, Bowie recorded the album as a wedding present for his wife Iman and as a response to the L.A. riots and the racial tension surrounding them. Black Tie White Noise was regarded by critics as a return to form following Bowie’s foray into the group set up of Tin Machine. Entering the UK album charts at number one (deposing Suede’s debut album), Black Tie… signalled a commercial renaissance whilst maintaining Bowie’s reputation for innovation. In the US the album received a limited distribution on the short lived Savage Records label but still reached a chart peak of number thirty nine.

The album features the hit singles ‘Jump They Say’, ‘Black Tie White Noise’ and ‘Miracle Goodnight’ and a cover of Morrissey’s ‘I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday’. Morrissey’s original was recorded for his album Your Arsenal which was produced by Mick Ronson and is clearly influenced by ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide’ from Bowie’s own Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. Bowie said at the time he tried to record ‘…Someday’ as if he were back in 1974 – and his interpretation of the song was highly praised by Morrissey himself. Other covers included are Cream’s ‘I Feel Free’, which Bowie and Ronson used to cover in concert back in ’72, and ‘Nite Flights’ by The Walker Brothers from the album of the same name which also contains Scott Walker’s seminal ‘The Electrician’. Bowie had been a fan of Walker’s voice since the late 60’s and the material on the Nite Flights album almost led to the two collaborating.

Of the other tracks ‘You’ve Been Around’ is a radical reworking of a Tin Machine era live song, ‘Pallas Athena’ and ‘Looking For Lester’ are two experimental dance and jazz infused instrumentals respectively and ‘Don’t Let Me Down And Down’ which is a reworking, with English lyrics, of ‘Jangan Susahkan Hatiku’ an Indonesian love song. The Indonesian vocal version can be found on CD 2 of the limited edition set.

The two tracks that top and tail the album, ‘The Wedding’ and ‘The Wedding Song’ respectively, are based on the same backing track. ‘The Wedding’ is an instrumental composed for David’s wedding and musically attempts to integrate both the Church Of England and Muslim ethics of the partnership. ‘The Wedding Song’, however, is basically a love song to his bride and is an effective way of ending the set.

This is the first time Black Tie White Noise has been available through EMI, and follows on from the hugely successful Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust reissues.
