Bye Bye To Mark And Lard

Not only is it the last show of the week. But, it’s the last show we’ll ever do!

I think everybody here in the UK must have heard about the fact that national institution, Mark and Lard, are to go their separate ways. After several decades of working as Britain’s best-loved DJ duo on ‘The Biggest Show’ for Radio 1, the pair are to go on to bigger and better things elsewhere for the BBC. Mark Radcliffe is destined for a solo show at Radio 2 and Marc ‘The Boy Lard’ Riley has his own thing going on over at 6 Music.

Regular visitors to these pages will know just how important Mark and Lard have been in keeping the Bowie flag flying over the years… a fact not lost on David who pays his own personal tribute early in today’s show. On a personal note, I’d like to say how proud I am to have Lard as one of my very dearest friends, a warmer more generous chap you couldn’t wish to meet… Anyway, before I get too emotional here, thanx for the fun, laughter, tears and absolute bollocks over the years lads, and here’s to an even brighter future for you both.
