Db Meets The Spree In Philly …now In Vt

I never thought I’d need so many people…

Regular BowieNet news page visitors will know how The Polyphonic Spree‘s performance at David Bowie’s Meltdown pretty well changed my life, in what was an almost religious experience.

Well David, who has flown the Polyphonic flag since he gave them that first break, finally got to meet the band backstage at his Philadelphia show back on March 29th. And it’s great to see his appreciation for their live show is as enthusiastic as just about everybody else’s who has fallen under Mr Tim DeLaughter and his merry pranksters’ spell.

You may remember that the band recorded a version of Five Years which was released as a bonus track on their Hanging Around CD single back in 2002. Well, that particular CD is a hard-to-find collector’s item these days, but you can hear a rousing live rendition of the song at The Official Polyphonic Spree Website. But, be warned, it’s emotional stuff! – There’s also a link to a downloadable version on iTunes in the news section of the site and confirmation that the band will be support for the last six dates of the current North American leg of A Reality Tour.

Anyway, BowieNet members can view DB’s historic meeting with the band via the magic of Anthony‘s latest video contribution to Virtual Ticket. Members can also view a larger version of the above picture (taken by Erik) on the message boards by going here.
