I’ll say “Don’t ask me…”
Even though they’re not due in the shops for another month (September 27th) those generous sorts at Sony have given us five sets of the beauties above for a competition here on BowieNet.
And I have to say I think these are pretty cool items… well, I don’t have to say it, I truly believe it. The double discs each come presented as beautifully-made glossy hardback edition books and really are quite special… and that’s before we even mention the music!
You may remember from my last news piece regarding these releases, (06.22.04 NEWS: LIMITED EDITION SONY DBL DISCS DUE FOR SEPTEMBER) that each of the bonus discs are jam-packed with relevant b-sides, rare and hard-to-find tracks and previously-unreleased mixes.
Check out that original news piece for the bonus disc tracklisting, which I’m proud to say I had some considerable input in compiling… so it’s good to see the positive response towards these reissues.
As ever, you obviously have a choice whether you buy these or not. But, at the mid-price that they are retailing at and with 44 bonus tracks across all three titles, I don’t think anybody but the most miserable could deny they are excellent value for money.
Anyway, five BowieNetters are about to get even better VFM when they each win a set of all three for free!
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning one of the five sets is answer these three very easy questions relevant to each album.
1. David himself created the painting that appears on the cover of 1. Outside. What is the name of that painting?
2. A track was released ahead of Earthling that hinted at the new direction. It was initially an internet only release, but was later issued as a legitimate 3-track 12″ vinyl and CD single. What was that track?
3. Many of the songs that ended up on ‘hours…’ started life for a different project altogether. What was that project?
There ya go…easy peasy! Send your three answers to me at TotalBlamBlam@davidbowie.com with a subject line of “Sony reissues”.
Usual rules apply: You must send from your BowieNet account or at least provide your BowieNet username. Only one entry per account name. Competition ends at midnight UK time next Saturday and winners will be announced the following Monday.
Don’t forget there will be a limited edition of 2,000 numbered slipcase sets of the three albums together, also available at your local CD emporium on September 27th.
