The David Bowie Nyc Gig Guide

New York’s a go-go…

As ever, DB has been keeping at least one ear on the new talent and he has some tips for you. So I’ll shut up and leave you in his more than capables…

Arctic Machines and Secret Collective and Animal Monkeys

Popped in to see the Arctic Monkeys at the Bowery Ballroom Wednesday night. They had some good songs, a great drummer and generally rocked the house. A nice solid Brit band. Personalities sort of reminded me of a young Action (if anyone remembers them).

The great news this week is that The Secret Machines have finished their new album and I hope to get a copy shortly. This maybe my band for 2006. You’ve read it here, Sunshine. They will be playing Webster Hall on Dec 1st. Be there or be square.

Last band call of the night is for the Animal Collective (brilliant) also at Webster Hall this Sunday. This is New York calling.

Thanx for that, guv. Feel free to pop in anytime with stuff like this.

He’s pretty well always right, eh kidz? OK, The Screaming Blue Messiahs may not be your favourite band, but surely he’s allowed one wrong’un in thirty five years of recommendations!

Btw, another of David’s favourites, TV On The Radio, are playing with The Secret Machines at that December 1st show.
