Db 1965! And Baal Download Eps Available Now

Immensely marvellous…

I think the headline pretty well says it all. But, for those of you that aren’t sure what this is about, see the previous news stories regarding these two digital EPs. (07.12.06 NEWS: BAAL EP AND BTWN EXTRAS DIGITAL DOWNLOADS DUE & 08.21.2006 NEWS: BAAL EP DIGITAL DOWNLOAD DELAY & 10.20.2006 NEWS: BOWIE 1965! DOWNLOAD EP AND BAAL EP UPDATE)

The David Mallet directed video for The Drowned Girl, which was also scheduled for release via iTunes today, doesn’t seem to be available as of yet. I will endeavour to see where the delay is, though I suspect it is with iTunes.

Stay tuned for a new contest for what must be the most collectable version of the BAAL EP ever.

Bowie Starts New Year With Top 20 Hit In The Uk

Drink, drink, drain your glass, raise your glass high…

David Bowie’s year got off to a fine start with the news that he has just scored his 38th Top 20 single with Arnold Layne, the first since 2002’s Everyone Says ‘Hi’. (09.23.2002 NEWS: EVERYONE SAYS ‘HI’ ENTERS UK TOP 20 & NEW SINGLE RELEASES)

Whether this fact will be recorded in the history books (well, the Guinness book of British Hit Singles at least) is debatable, as the # 19 chart listing seems to credit David Gilmour only.

Hopefully this is just a bit of short-sightedness on the chart compilers’ part, as the track has sold on the strength of David Bowie’s name as much as anything else…after all, the Bowie vocal version (being the A-side) is the one receiving all the airplay.

As history has recorded Top 20 David Bowie hits with Queen, Bing Crosby, Pat Metheny and Mick Jagger, then I’m sure this one with David Gilmour will also be recognised in the same way.

Whatever, The Official UK Charts Company seems rather tardy in listing the new chart, but you can see it for yourself on BBC Radio 1’s chart site.

Anyway, congratulations to the Davids, and here’s to a Happy New Year and a wonderfully exciting 2007 to everybody reading this, and indeed, to those that aren’t.

Speaking of download EPs…
