Buddha Of Suburbia Dvd And Cd Update

Elvis is English…

We told you about the upcoming reissue of The Buddha Of Suburbia on DVD and CD last month, (05.14.2007 RUMOUR: BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA TO GET DVD AND CD RELEASE?) and we promised updates as we got them…well, here are some.

Hanif Kureishi‘s award-winning The Buddha Of Suburbia BBC TV Series will be released as a two-disc DVD edition through 2 Entertain Video on September 17th.

David Bowie’s nine-track ‘soundtrack’ CD will be released on the same day via EMI, and it will be housed in the original US version of the sleeve, not dissimilar to the one above. It will also include David’s extensive sleeve notes that featured in the original European version of the release.

Here’s the tracklisting:

01 Buddha Of Suburbia
02 Sex And The Church
03 South Horizon
04 The Mysteries
05 Bleed Like A Craze, Dad
06 Strangers When We Meet
07 Dead Against It
08 Untitled No. 1
09 Ian Fish, U.K. Heir
10 Buddha Of Suburbia
(version) (featuring Lenny Kravitz on guitar)

As much as you’re all no doubt looking forward to the reissue of this often overlooked Bowie album, I’m sure none will be happier than David Bowie himself who had this to say regarding the The Buddha Of Suburbia‘s general unavailability: “The album itself only got one review, a good one as it happens, and is virtually non-existent as far as my catalogue goes – it was designated a soundtrack and got zilch in the way of marketing money. A real shame.”

There may be a different US release date, but we’ll let you know if that transpires.
