Buddha Cd & Dvd Out This Month, Plus Ica Premiere

Screaming above Central London…

You may have noticed press ads starting to appear, such as the one above, for the upcoming The Buddha Of Suburbia CD & DVD.

As mentioned previously, (05.14.2007 RUMOUR: BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA TO GET DVD AND CD RELEASE? & 06.04.2007 NEWS: BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA DVD AND CD UPDATE & 06.19.2007 NEWS: THE BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA PRESS RELEASE) both the CD reissue and the first ever DVD release are due on September 17th.

Here’s the ad blurb for those that can’t make out the above…

————————————————————————————————————-

The Buddha of Suburbia album, originally released in 1993, is one of Bowie?s personal favourites. Bowie took lots of narrative provocation from Hanif Kureishi?s book and TV series of the same name and alongside his own personal reminiscences from the 1970?s created a textural backdrop to create an amazing album that is well worth discovering.

————————————————————————————————————-

Perhaps it’s fitting that the album is released just one day after the 30th anniversary of Marc Bolan‘s death on September 16th 1977, particularly as both he and his band, T Rex, are mentioned in the sleevenotes in the list of “influences and reminiscences from the 1970`s” thet helped flavour the album’s making.

Those of you that can’t wait until the release may want to make it to London on September 9th for a Q&A screening of The Buddha Of Suburbia at the ICA. The Q&A will be attended by the writer of the book, Hanif Kureishi, and the show’s director Roger Michell and producer Kevin Loader.

Go here for more about the ICA event including ticket details and a contest to win copies of both the CD and DVD…obviously we’ll be running a similar contest shortly.
