I keep a photograph, It burns my wall with time…

We first told you about the exhibition back in June (06.25.2009 NEWS: RARE BOWIE SHOTS AT NPG BEATLES TO BOWIE EXHIBITION) when we exclusively revealed three of the Bowie photographs on display.
By my reckoning, there are at least seven Bowie portraits now, not to mention a few colour magazine spreads with Bowie features from the period…this includes what must be the very first full page colour Bowie pin-up from a September issue of Fabulous 208.
I’ll hopefully reproduce some of those articles here or on the MBs in the not too distant future as I have them all in my own collection.
As you can see from the snap above, the press pack featured Bowie pretty heavily, with the A4+ format folder revealing a David Wedgbury 1966 shot on the inside cover (along with postcard of same) and a colour David Bebbington photo from 1969 on one of the leaflets inside.
I’m hoping to receive a couple of these for a BowieNet contest along with the exhibition catalogue which includes every image in the exhibition as a full-page reproduction. The catalogue is in fact a fully illustrated hardback book by curator Terence Pepper, with an essay by Jon Savage.
Here’s a list of all the Bowie photographers with the corresponding year of the picture on show…
Cyrus Andrews 1965
Fiona Adams 1965
David Wedgbury 1966
Peter Freeman 1967
Dubreq 1969
David Bebbington 1969
Steve Campbell 1970
For those of that can’t wait to either attend or wait for the contest, you can purchase everything Bowie-related from the
Btw, almost forget…there are tons of fascinating photographs and ephemera regarding other lesser known stars of the sixties such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, etc.
