Royal Mail Ziggy Fdc Final Day

Battle For Britain (The Letter) Day 15…

Well, I did threaten it yesterday, and appropriately enough the letter L is for Last Letter.

So now you’ve had all you’re going to get and that’s a total of fifteen letters, including the above, since we first started this contest on DB’s birthday. (01.08.2010 NEWS: WIN ROYAL MAIL ZIGGY STARDUST FDC SIGNED BY BOWIE)

To recap, what you now have to do is identify each of the fifteen David Bowie albums each of the letters come from…and you have to work out the Bowie song title that those letters are an anagram of.

Of course, there’s always a catch…As I say, with only fifteen letters we’ve stopped short of giving you all of the letters you need to complete the song title…And we’re not telling you how many letters short it is.

Still, how many Bowie song titles can there be that use all of the fifteen letters we have posted. There’s got to be only one…or perhaps two? Or more. Who knows? Not me, I never lost…sorry.

Just to remind you exactly what it is you’re going to all this effort for…you have the chance to win one of the above sets that each consist of:

1. A signed by David Bowie Royal Mail Ziggy Stardust First Day Cover
2. A strip of five Royal Mail, inflation-proof, first class Ziggy Stardust self-adhesive stamps
3. A Royal Mail Ziggy Stardust album cover postcard

When we started this competition we had ten sets to give-away, that may still be the case if nobody guessed the correct song in either of the ‘early bird’ contests. However, it may also mean that up to five sets have already been allocated to ‘early bird’ winners. All will be apparent when we list the final ten winners.

You now have a couple of weeks to get your answers in…that’s sixteen answers in total: fifteen album titles and one song title.

Send your answers to me here, and remember the contest closes on Sunday February 14th at midnight, New York time, with the winners being announced the following day on the 15th.

Usual BowieNet rules apply: Only one entry per BowieNet account and please remember you must enter using your BowieNet e-mail or at least supply your BowieNet user name. If you do neither of these things you won’t be eligible to enter.

Good Luck, kidz!

Royal Mail Ziggy Fdc Day Fourteen

Battle For Britain (The Letter) Day 14…

Do you know what? Just to make things a bit more interesting, I think we’re going to make this the penultimate letter so that we can end this contest this month.

This means you won’t be getting every letter of the anagram, which also means the final answer won’t be quite as obvious as you might have hoped. Life can be so cruel.

Are You Among The First To Win A 2010 Bowie Autograph?

And the solid book we wrote has been won today…(not to mention the press kit)

You’ve waited with a polite eagerness for the results of this one…(01.01.2010 NEWS: BE AMONG THE FIRST TO OWN A BOWIE 2010 AUTOGRAPH) so I’m not about to test that patience any further.

To be in with a chance of winning, you simply had to tell us which you’d rather have, the exhibition catalogue, above, or the press kit, below, both of which contain the signed Bowie card, illustrated.

You also had to list five photographers other than David Wedgbury who had Bowie photographs in the Beatles to Bowie: The 60s Exposed exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. You could have had…

Those of you that didn’t receive the Sony Music Bowie newsletter today may want to check it out here.

They have a signed CD up for grabs and a link to play.com who have another signed guitar to tempt you with…best be quick though, it ends Sunday! (January 31st)

While you’re on the Sony page why not sign up to their Bowie newsletter so you don’t miss the next one.

Foot Note: I’m not even going to mention that they’ve used a 2002 shot for the above play.com header.

Royal Mail Ziggy Fdc Day Thirteen

Battle For Britain (The Letter) Day 13…

This contest will end one day, I promise. And it may even be this month!

Look on the bright side, the five first class stamps that come as part of the winning signed Ziggy Stardust FDC packages will still be valid after the next Royal Mail price hike in April…now that’s what I call cheating the system…a bit.

Today’s letter is another that I’ve had to give a visibility keyline to that wouldn’t be on the letter originally…Also, I’m feeling a bit mean about not identifying what actual letter we used yesterday, so today I’m going to tell you it’s an H.

Round-up Of Itunes David Bowie Doo-dahs

I wish I played the doo-dah horn…

Firstly, it’s great to see that Bowie has held his own in the tough battlefield of the iTunes banner!

The above Reality live banner has survived the whole week thus far in the iTunes Music section, while the likes of Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Kylie, Take That and even Blur have gone by the wayside.

On the same day that iTunes launched David Bowie – A Reality Tour Live with two exclusive bonus tracks, they also made the songs on David’s playlist that appeared in last Sunday’s Observer and on Spotify (01.24.2010 NEWS: DB REVEALS HIS CURRENT iPOD PLAYLIST IN THE OBSERVER) available to purchase.

Also, the three Isle Of Wight Festival videos that we posted on our A Reality Tour page (01.20.2010 NEWS: DAVID BOWIE A REALITY TOUR PAGE IS LIVE) have been made available to purchase on iTunes along with three tracks from A Reality Tour Live DVD.

They are all listed at the bargain price of £1.29, whereas the rest of the Bowie videos available are all priced at £1.89.

Here are the tracks alphabetically…

All The Young Dudes (Isle Of Wight Festival)
“Heroes” (Isle Of Wight Festival)
Sister Midnight (Isle Of Wight Festival)

Never Get Old (A Reality Tour)
New Killer Star (A Reality Tour)
Rebel Rebel (A Reality Tour)

All of the information in this item was gleaned from the UK iTunes site…check your local iTunes for availability in your territory.

Royal Mail Ziggy Fdc Day Twelve

Battle For Britain (The Letter) Day 12…

Have you gotten* over yesterday’s shock letter yet? Were you hoping it was a mistake and that I’d replace it with an r? I’m afraid not.

Well, I’m not even telling you what today’s letter actually is. Could be an x or a t or even an f perhaps?

It’s your job to find out

*I know the word gotten isn’t used in England, but frankly I think it should be…it just sounds right to my mind.

Nme In Search Of David Bowie Plus Db A-z Photo Gallery

Got to keep searching and searching…

This week’s NME “examines the legacy of David Bowie” and goes on the search for him in an amusing double-page spread by Barry Nicolson.

The feature, (which we mentioned last week: 01.21.2010 NEWS: NME FEATURE NOT TO INCLUDE DB SELF-INTERVIEW) also has a brief excerpt from a longer, seventeen question, Q&A that DB did as a promo for the A Reality Tour live CD.

To celebrate this issue, the magazine has a great online photo gallery with an A-Z of David Bowie, which you can view here.
