Happy 18th Anniversary David And Iman

I love you in the morning sun, I love you in my dreams…

Today is the eighteenth anniversary of David and Iman‘s official church wedding at Saint James Episcopal Church, in Florence, Italy in 1992.

The couple are pictured above at their most recent public appearance on May 20th, at a luncheon at Barneys in New York in honour of Iman’s Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America that she will receive tomorrow, June 7th.

Congratulations and our very best wishes to David and Iman from everybody here at BowieNet.

Photographer Brian Duffy Dies Aged Seventy Six

Snapping pictures of scrawny limbs and toothy grins…

Sad to report the passing of the photographer Brian Duffy. He died last Monday (May 31st) following a protracted degenerative lung condition.

We’ve covered Duffy’s work with David Bowie fairly extensively on these pages in recent months. (05.09.2010 NEWS: BRIAN DUFFY OPENS HIS ARCHIVE FOR BOWIE PRINT SALES & 10.15.2009 NEWS: DUFFY TALKS ABOUT ALADDIN SANE SHOOT ON BBC & 01.14.2010 NEWS: UNPUBLISHED BOWIE SHOTS IN DUFFY BBC FOUR DOCUMENTARY)

But, If you’re not particularly familiar with the man and his work aside from his Bowie pictures, check out the official Duffy site where you can find an online link to a fascinating BBC documentary about the man called The Man Who Shot The 60s, from where the above screen grab was taken. The programme is also repeated on BBC Four in the UK on Saturday June 12th at 22:30.

Our condolences go out to Duffy’s family and friends.

Aylesbury lass Judy Pearce, of the New Roxette Magazine, kindly sent in the above photos by Neale Wareham from Friday with the following note…

———————————————————————————————————————–

Hi Blam – Sorry that you couldn’t make it on Friday it was a blast. I met Paul before the gig and gave him a “Serious Moonlight” enamel badge (which I got when I worked for EMI Records) – and as you can see from the attached photos he wore it. When I gave it to him he said he would “wear it with pride”.

I think that’s very sweet of Paul to say that and to wear the badge…many thanks to Neale for the pictures and to Judy for being so forward thinking to take the badge along to the gig.
