Space Oddity 40th Anniversary Edition Cds Contest

My mother said to get things done, You’d better not mess with Major Tom…

To mark today’s release of the Space Oddity 40th Anniversary Limited Edition CD and digital download in Europe, EMI has kindly donated five of the rather tasty CD packages.

Apart from the fantastic music, (which alone makes this the best repackage of Space Oddity ever released) the booklet contains excellent and informative notes by Bowie expert Kevin Cann, not to mention lots of interesting pictorial stuff.

This is all housed in a beautiful triple digi-pack which, among other things, features reproductions of David’s original roughs for George Underwood‘s The Depth Of The Circle painting that appeared on the back cover of the original album.

In the animation above, I’ve superimposed David’s original drawing with seven of the elements that George recreated from the drawing for the painting.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the CD packages, all you have to do is identify three of those seven elements that were later used again for Bowie-related stuff.

To give you a bit of a clue, one of the elements was used in a press advert for a Bowie single, one was used for an RCA promotional sheet of skin transfers (decals) and the final one was recreated in a Bowie video.

Now all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning the Space Oddity 40th Anniversary Limited Edition CD is email me here with more specific details of how each of the three elements was used.

For example, if you think the element of the two spacemen planting a flower was recreated for the Little Wonder video, then have that as one of the three…though, I can tell you that that isn’t one before you waste your time. I’m generous like that.

As this contest won’t be so easy for everybody, we’re running it until midnight New York time on Sunday October 25th, with the five winners being announced shortly thereafter.

Usual BowieNet rules apply: Only one entry per BowieNet account and please remember you must enter using your BowieNet e-mail or at least supply your BowieNet user name. If you do neither of these things you won’t be eligible to enter.

Happy spotting, kidz!
