Tonight looks like being another great evening at The High Line Festival. Apart from the second night of
David has been flying the Deerhoof flag for a long time now, If I recall correctly he first mentioned the band in an on-the-road bulletin during his A Reality Tour.
In a recent e-mail to me, around the time of the release of Friend Opportunity, he described the band’s music as: “insanely tuneful in a loony other place way”. I’m sure most of you know the band anyway, and if you do, you’ll know David is not wrong.

Laurie Anderson’s power trio includes bassist Skuli Sverrisson and keyboard genius Peter Scherer as well as a combination of electronics vocals and violin. The Highline shows will be unique sneak previews of material from her new album for Nonesuch.
Anderson, known for her social commentary, expands her songwriting even further in that direction. The H&M High Line Festival is a new multi-discipline arts festival that will be curated each year by a different artist. The inaugural edition, curated by David Bowie, will run May 9 to 19, 2007. The ten-day mash-up of music, film, comedy, visual art and performance will highlight all of David’s favorite artists. The best of the best.

For those of you in a dilemma about which of the above you should check out tonight, it may help you to know that Laurie Anderson is also playing tomorrow, whereas Deerhoof aren’t.
