David Live By Any Other Name…tv Talks

Here today, gone tomorrow…

Saturday is the last day for an auction of Bowie-related items by recording engineer Eddie Kramer via backstageauctions.com. The main items of interest to the collector with a few shillings to spare are tapes and acetates of the double album David Live that have been in Eddie’s possession for thirty years and from when the album was apparently called: Wham Bam! Thank You Mam! This title was news to collectors until details of this auction emerged a couple of weeks ago, so I asked Tony Visconti if he could shed any light:

This is the very same original David Live album, the mixes are the same, unmastered on the tape and mastered on the acetate. David goes through several titles of a new album before one sticks and this title probably lasted for 3 days. I don’t even remember it. For instance Young Americans was called The Gouster and that was written all over my tape boxes when I left Philly.

So there you have it. Probably one of the more expensive versions of David Live doing the rounds and it doesn’t even have any bonus tracks! Click on the image above if you’re interested in placing a bid or just keen to peruse the lots. Speaking of auctions…
