Kelowna Set List, Broadway And The Ogopogo

“But the little green things are following me…” DB and Scary Monster in Kelowna.

Oh your daddy’s rich, and your ma is good lookin’…

Well, it sounds like David Bowie was determined the final Canadian show in Kelowna on Sunday would be memorable for one reason or another, and that it certainly was. As evidenced from Erik’s picture above that we posted in VT yesterday, there were some funny goings on with a little furry green thing. BowieNetter, Sue from Vancouver, explained the creature thus:

The little green fellow is the Ogopogo who apparently lives in Okanagan Lake. David was comparing him to the Loch Ness Monster and joking about his size and the fact that he had a red ribbon around his neck which you would never see on Nessy.

BowieNetter krystyna also gave the uncensored version on the MBs, reproduced here with asterisks in the appropriate places:

Kelowna, well the entire Okanagan area of British Columbia, has its own little Loch Ness Monster, named Ogopogo. In fact, according to the little green tag that’s attached to Bowie’s Ogopogo (I know because I ended up getting the same one, only larger), “Many believe he may be a relative to the Loch Ness Monster of Scotland”.

Sailor must have found Kelowna’s imitation Loch Ness Monster amusing/lame/interesting, because he brought out the little stuffed Ogopogo he bought and said something along the lines of “First of all, the Loch Ness Monster doesn’t wear a fu*king red bow…and this thing’s only four fuc*ing inches long!”

One of the musical highlights of the evening was the inclusion of a Broadway Medley, which HNB described to me as a selection of songs from Porgy and Bess and West Side Story, including the classic Summertime, from which, today’s lyric quote above. Lord, I wish I’d been there to hear that one!

Anyway, here’s the officially confirmed 28-song set list, which is correct and confirmed by HNB, who called me in the wee small hours to point out that I posted the wrong one originally. Ooops, sorry folx, my bad, as some of you would say, and thanx to those of you that pointed it out in e-mail to me:
