More Classic Bowie At Arlene Grocery On Sunday

Singing old songs we loved…

Following on from their successful David Bowie Classic Album Nights over the past couple of years, (The last time being: 12/18/02 NEWS: BOWIE NIGHT ON NEW YEAR’S EVE AT ARLENE GROCERY) the legendary New York club, Arlene Grocery, has another scheduled for this coming Sunday July 20th.

At the moment, the schedule is roughly as follows:

8:30pm Aladdin Sane

9:30pm Ziggy Stardust

10:30pm Various selections from Diamond Dogs, Hunky Dory, Young Americans and Space Oddity

The usual suspects will be recreating the music, including the talents of:

Charlie Roth – Musical director and Keyboards. Adam Roth – Guitar. Alec Morton – Bass. Joe Vincent – Drums. Kieth (sic) from True Love on guitar

True Love will perform Aladdin Sane. Owen Comaskey will perform Ziggy Stardust.

See the aforementioned New Year’s Eve story for some of these musician’s past glories… Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, but this bunch could qualify for The Polyphonic Spree award for over-crowded stages!

The evening has been planned as a benefit for David J. Ores, MD [david.ores@verizon.net] He provides free medical care for uninsured people on the lower East Side, and he’s apparently “A great guy, who provides a medical service free of charge”.

BowieNetters who identify themselves at the door will get a $3 discount from the $7 cover charge. Click on the image above to take you to a BowieNet discount flyer which you can print out and take with you. Have fun you lucky people.

Arlene Grocery is situated at 95 Stanton Street, NY 10002 – PH (212) 358-1633 – (between Ludlow and Orchard, just one block South of Houston)
